Code of Conduct
Club Rules
A shared code that keeps our runs welcoming, orderly and safe for everyone.
I. Basic Principles
- Respect every participant. No discrimination or mockery based on speed, age, gender, profession, background, gear or physical condition.
- Promote “fast and slow together”: faster runners wait, slower runners need not chase.
- Safety first — run within your limits; no bravado, no risks.
- Be punctual, follow the rules and be courteous — keep every run orderly.
- Care for the community environment; cause no disturbance or damage.
II. Eligibility & Registration
- Participants aged 18+ may register themselves. Those under 18 need parent/guardian consent and must be accompanied by an adult member.
- Those with chronic illnesses, recovering injuries, pregnancy or feeling unwell should consult a doctor first and honestly inform the pacer or core members.
- Provide accurate details when registering, including name, contact info, emergency contact and health notes (if any).
III. Attendance & Check-in
- Arrive 10–15 minutes before the start for warm-up and the run briefing.
- Check in on arrival and confirm your group and route.
- If you will be late or leave early, notify the pacer or a core member in advance.
IV. Health & Safety
- Assess your own condition. Do not force yourself to join if you feel unwell.
- If you feel dizzy, chest pain, shortness of breath, cramps or extreme fatigue, stop immediately and tell the pacer, sweeper or a fellow runner.
- Follow the pacer and sweeper. Do not leave the group, change the route or overtake the lead on your own.
- Obey traffic rules when crossing roads — no jaywalking or beating red lights.
- Wear reflective or light-coloured clothing for night runs; watch the road and vehicles.
- The club does its best to provide basic safety support, but participants remain responsible for their own safety.
V. Running Etiquette & Route Rules
- Keep to the side on footpaths; do not run abreast and block pedestrians.
- No spitting, littering or damaging public property.
- Keep noise down; no loudspeaker music that disturbs residents.
- Keep a safe distance from other runners, pedestrians and cyclists.
- Signal before overtaking other runners to avoid collisions.
- Be courteous to all other road users — no fighting for space or provoking others.
- During runs and conditioning, members must exercise self-discipline and mutual respect, keeping appropriate physical distance at all times (no unnecessary body contact or intimate contact).
VI. Pace Groups, Pacers & Sweepers
- Choose a group matching your ability; do not force yourself to follow a faster group.
- Each group has a pacer and a sweeper — stay between them for the whole route.
- If exhausted, tell the pacer or sweeper; someone will accompany you or arrange a turn-back.
- Do not leave the group on your own or take shortcuts.
- Pacer and sweeper instructions prioritise safety and the group’s interests — please cooperate.
VII. Attire & Equipment
- Wear proper sportswear and running shoes.
- Slippers, sandals and jeans are not suitable for running.
- Bring your own water, towel and personal items.
- In bad weather, bring windproof, waterproof or warm gear.
- Do not bring dangerous or prohibited items to activities.
VIII. Social Groups & Communication
- The chat groups are mainly for activity notices, route info and safety tips.
- No advertising, sales, MLM, religious promotion, political mobilisation or unverified information in the groups.
- No personal attacks, insults, provocation or rumours.
- Respect others’ privacy — do not share anyone’s personal data or photos without consent.
- For disputes, communicate rationally first; escalate to core members if needed.
IX. Belongings, Insurance & Personal Data
- Look after your own belongings; the club is not liable for any loss.
- Participants are advised to purchase personal accident or sports insurance.
- Personal data is used only for club contact, activity arrangement and emergencies — never shared with third parties without consent.
- Photos and videos may be used for club promotion. If you prefer not to appear, notify a core member in advance.
X. Children, Teens, Pets & Visitors
- Children and teens must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who ensures they can complete the chosen route.
- Pets require prior approval; keep them under control at all times.
- Visitors and drop-in runners must follow this code and learn the route and safety notes beforehand.
- Repeat visitors should formally register as members or runners.
XI. Weather, Air Quality & Cancellations
- In case of typhoon, rainstorm, thunderstorm, extreme heat, poor air quality or other severe weather, the club may cancel, shorten or change activities.
- Watch for club announcements; do not head to the meeting point after a cancellation.
- If weather worsens during a run, follow the pacer’s instructions to evacuate or turn back in order.
- In hot weather, hydrate and use sun protection to avoid heat stroke.
XII. Community & Environment
- Care for community facilities; no vandalism or disturbance to residents.
- Support the environment — bring a reusable bottle, cut single-use plastic.
- Join community service: beach clean-ups, elderly visits and more.
- Connect the community through running — turn strangers into neighbours.
XIII. Prohibited Conduct
- Sales, MLM, religious promotion, political mobilisation or canvassing.
- Personal attacks, discrimination, harassment, bullying or any form of violence.
- Theft, vandalism or trespassing on private property.
- Concealing health conditions that endanger yourself or others.
- Disobeying safety instructions from the pacer or sweeper.
- Joining runs while intoxicated, under the influence of drugs, or unwell.
- Any other conduct deemed improper by core members.
XIV. Handling Violations
- Minor violations: verbal reminder from the pacer or a core member.
- Repeated violations: written warning, recorded on file.
- Severe/repeat offenders: membership cancelled.
- All penalties are decided by core members case by case; appeals are reviewed by core members.
- Cases involving illegal conduct will be reported to the police.
XV. Disclaimer & Consent
- Participation is voluntary; runners understand that outdoor running carries inherent risks.
- Participants must assess their own health and ability and take responsibility for their safety.
- The club and volunteers bear no legal liability for accidents caused by personal negligence, concealed health conditions or violations of this code.
- Registering for an activity means you have read and agreed to this code.
XVI. Supplementary Provisions
- This code takes effect once approved by the core members.
- It may be revised as needed; revisions will be announced in the chat groups.
- Matters not covered here will be handled by core members according to the club’s purpose and safety principles.
- This code does not replace legal advice; consult a professional when needed.
